India won the toss and batted first at Eden Gardens, Kolkata. Team India gave South Africa a target of 327 runs to win. While chasing the target, South African batsmen could not face the Indian bowling. The entire African team was all out after scoring 83 runs in 27.1 overs. Ravindra Jadeja took five wickets.
Sports Desk, New Delhi. Captain Rohit Sharma praised the players after defeating two-time world champions South Africa by 234 runs. The Indian team led by Rohit Sharma performed brilliantly with both bat and ball in Kolkata on Sunday. Rohit Sharma praised Kohli and Ravindra Jadeja.
Rohit Sharma said, “We have played very well considering the conditions. We were in trouble against England, but our bowlers did a good job. In the last match, we lost the first wicket very quickly, but after that we scored well. This time too Kohli batted well understanding the situation. Shreyas formed a partnership and after that the bowlers completed the job.”
Rohit further said, “Whoever is given the role, he is playing that role. It was not that this pitch was hard in the beginning. We had talked about playing fast in the beginning and if the wicket became slow later on then The plan will be carried forward in the same way. Jadeja is doing well for us, when he gets to bat, he scores runs and in bowling he is excellent. Don’t go into the upcoming matches with too much confidence.“
Let us tell you that India has won 8 out of 8 in this World Cup. India has repeated this feat after 20 years. Even in the year 2003, India had won 8 matches consecutively.
